Data Driven Research

Recently, IGPA went from a closed system of a handful of scholars, working from a discreet set of disciplines, to engaging roughly 150 scholars across all three universities through our Working Groups and Task Force on the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Our Working Group structure maps onto human needs and desired outcomes in our state, not narrow academic disciplines. Each group is interdisciplinary and interdepartmental—and built to enable relationships among its members and maximize policy impact.

We have been working with network analysis experts to map our connections throughout the U of I System. In the video, you can see IGPA’s older, closed system on the left, and on the right you can see the new IGPA.

The result tells a compelling story about how IGPA serves as a catalyst and connector within the University of Illinois System. The analysis found that IGPA has leveraged its unique position at the system level to create more than 6,700 connections between scholars that may not have materialized otherwise. We succeed through the strength of our relationships and the depth of our shared experience.
